St.Paddy's Day Parade and Game

The Parade

A humungous crowd of approximately 100,000 Vancouverites lined Granville street on a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver on Sunday to watch the 3rd annual Celtic parade - featuring the Vancouver Cougars and Burnaby Eagles football teams.

The crowd oooodd and arrddd as the boys launched footies up and down Granville St. It looked like we were finally going to make it down the whole street for the first time without any observer casualites.....but then, right on the last block - Damo launched a TWSherrin smack bang into the noggin of a poor Japanese tourist who went down lack a sacks of suds (with Nokia camera flying..... )

Gaelic Game

The 5th annual Gaelic Game between the Irish and the Cougars was held in perfect conditions at Andy Livingston Field. The BC Team got off to flyer, dominating possession early in the game, unfortunately, despite peppering the goals, many near misses saw the Cougars with only had a few early "overs" to show for it all.

As always it seems, the small intricacies of the game were the downfall of the AFL boys with the - lack of tackling, not being able to pick the ball of the ground and dealing with the tricky round ball prevented us from racking up a winning score.

As the second half went on, the Irish began to get the points on the scoreboard when it counted, despite some heroic efforts in goal by Scotty.

We'll get em' next year !!
