Vegas - what a trip !!!

Well,
What a weekend. 25 of the boys headed down to Vegas during the Long weekend to take part in the annual US Nationals competition. Following on from our sterling effort in the 3rd Division last year, we were bumped up to the 2nd Division this year.

In our pool we had Minnesota, Philidelphia and Arizona. Unlike last year, the entire team had no flight problems and we all made it in time for our first game on Saturday morning against Minnesota.
Unfortunately things didn't get off to the greatest start. It may have been the 8am start and the lack of sleep for at least half the team that arrived at around 1am that morning into Vegas, but they jumped us from the start. Despite out-scoring Minnesota in the 2nd half, they had already done enough in the first and BCFooty went down by 15 points.
BcFooty 5.1.31 to Minnesota 7.4.46
Game two was a few hours later against Philidelphia. Again, we let our oppenents get the jump on us and just couldn't peg back the difference in a tight scoring game.
BCFooty 3.5.23 to Philly 4.7.31
It was disappointing to go 0-2 on the first game after having high hopes for success. It's certainly tough in the short games to come back if you get behind early. However at no stage did the boys ever give up, we were just beaten by better teams on the day in the short games. With no chance to get into the final, the whole team certainly bonded together and had an absolute cracking night out which the many photos below will attest to.

On the Sunday, we certainly were determined to go out in style and that we did with a hard fought victory over an Arizona team that was lacking in numbers but managed to secure the services of some of our best players and a few handy Seattle boys who helped bolster there numbers and almost won the game for them. In what turned out to be a thrilling finish we ended up 2 point winners.
BCFooty 5.7.37 to Arizona 5.5.35.
After the game the boys stuck around to watch Carlee and Mickala (apologies if the name spelling is wrong) from the Juniors play in the women's final, with both proving to be young stars of the team; as well as the other finals. A few cartons of beer didn't hurt us quickly becoming the most rowdy and entertaining team that stuck around to watch the games. The B division ended up being taken out by Baltimore who were clearly a class above all the other teams in our division.

Overall the tournament was run extremely well by USFooty and our general team consensus was that it was fantastic to be a part of.
Congrats to SuperCoach Stu Grills who received the Division 2 award for "Most Consistent".
A huge thanks to Campo for his tirless organisational efforts to get the team into the tournament and to Vegas and back in one piece (relatively).
As they say, pictures tell a 1,000 words, so here's about 2 million of them which probably give a better sense of what the weekend was about both on and off the field.
As any good Canadian would say the weekend can be simply summed up as this...
GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES !!!
